Time is a fleeting thing, and at warp speed, likely more so. But if you're interested in the sense of time we have here in Star Trek, then I think you came to the right page.

September 6th, 1966

A red letter day in sci-fi history! On this date in 1966, a new show, "Star Trek," made its television debut -- though it took over three years for audiences to actually start watching.

Time Services

If you are going to coordinate your activities with other vessels, then it will be fairly important to keep well tuned to Universal Time. Here's some links useful for doing so.

=The Official US Time
Pick a time zone, set your chronometers.
=World Clock
Probably more than you wanted to know about what time it is right now, anywhere on Terra.
=Network Time Protocol (NTP) software
Many things that computers do depend on a precise sense of time. This site has many useful links relating to time services. Note that NTP can use up a bit of bandwidth if configured poorly.
=Public Timeservers
What's "stratum 2"? 2 hops away from true atomically calculated time. Unless you're a scientist working on a rather precise level (nanoseconds or smaller), stratum 2 is fine, and in fact stratum 3 might be sufficient. Make sure to follow the rules of conduct with your selected time sources.

Documentation

*Stardate FAQ
As maintained by Andrew Main. Note, we're required to provide it in text format only.
=Starfleet Command's Stardate Information
Starfleet Command in this case is a gaming site; they refer to stardates a lot for some reason :D and needed a place in their space to reference it all. Excellent collection.
=Star Trke Nexus : Ask The Trekker : How does Stardate work?
Someone asked and they provided some canonical information. Note the Nexus is a bit behind the times itself... you can't write for Voyager anymore if we have a new series on...

Tools

*stardates-1.6.1
A command line utility to cough up stardates. Very handy for sneeaking an X-stardate line into your mail headers, like our Captain does.
=wmstardate
A Window Maker applet which shows the current Stardate. It also has the UFP logo on it. Very cute :)
=Cut-n-paste Javascript Stardate
In case you'd like to add one to your own site, Javascriptkit isn't charging any money for it, just cut and paste it yourself and use where you like.
* Gold pips stay onsite
+ Gold half-pips lead off-site, to crew maintained pages
= Silver pips lead off-site
- Silver half-pips title local content
