Tectronix Phasers are considered one of the finest printers in the business. There's some variety but the most interesting models use, instead of toner (like lasers) or ink (most color printers are inkjets), some sort of wax and thermally transfers it onto the paper. The process is slow but colors are always vivid.
 
According to the natives, they work "stunningly".
 
Linuxprinting maintains data about proper configuration of printers fro a number of interfaces - lpd, lprNG, CUPS, and ghostscript filters. It is likely that many of the entires are equally valid for the BSD family of operating systems.
